Why learn to engage your bandhas? You may have been in a yoga class and heard the teacher give the instruction to ‘engage your bandhas’, and been a bit unsure as to what they’re really talking about. So what are the bandhas and how can they help us in our yoga practice? Finding yoga For some, yoga practice is about maintaining mobility, reducing physical pain or recovering from injury. Others find yoga for its incredible emotional health benefits, from managing depression and anxiety to finding better ways to cope with whatever life throws at them.
