After attending my first yoga class five years ago, I immediately fell in love with the practice. I began with the physical aspect of asanas (postures) but quickly discovered pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation as life-changing tools that I have been practicing everyday for the past three years.
I completed my 300-hour Integral Hatha Yoga Teacher Training course in November 2016 at the Academy of Yoga and Ayurveda in Cape Town, South Africa. I have since been teaching on a voluntary basis in various underprivileged communities in South Africa as well as at the University of Cape Town.
I also completed the Art of Living’s Voluntary Teacher Training in May 2017, after which I became eligible to teach the transformational Breath Water Sound course that deals with empowering individuals and reducing stress through teaching the participants breathing techniques, meditation and practical wisdom. I taught this course numerous times at homeless shelters across Cape Town and witnessed the amazing transformation of the eight limbs of yoga.
In my classes, I focus a lot on using the breath to calm the mind and letting go of negative emotions, while at the same time reaping the benefits of the postures. I encourage anyone to join my classes – from absolute beginners to advanced students.
